Rules
Lab experiments at FriLab

In order to participate in experiments at FriLab, you have to register in our database using the lab's online recruitment system. With your registration, you declare your interest in participating in experiments conducted by the FriLab.

Rules

  • You must be at least 18 years old.
  • You can only register once in the FriLab database. Registering multiple accounts undermines our scientific research. Any participant found with more than one profile will be excluded from all future studies.
  • A certain number of registered people will receive an invitation email to each experiment. Only invited people are allowed to take part in an experiment.
  • If you receive an invitation email, you must respond affirmatively in order to participate. Your registration for an experimental session is binding.
  • Every participant who registered for an experiment and arrived at the laboratory on time will receive at least a compensation of 4 CHF.
  • Participants will usually be compensated in cash based on decisions they make during the experiment, decisions other participants make or based on random chance mechanisms.
  • During an experiment, participants must follow the directives of the researchers and the rules outlined in the instructions of the experiment. No deception is allowed for studies conducted via the FriLab. This means that everything that is described in the instructions of an experiment, for example concerning your payments, has to be the truth.
  • In order to ensure that only registered participants enter an experiment, every participants has to bring an identification document such as an ID or a campus card. A participant who is not able to identify him- or herself does not receive the minimum compensation of 4 CHF and will possibly not be able to participate in the experiment.
  • Please note that not showing up for an experiment for which you registered or showing up too late can lead to the cancellation of an entire experimental session due to an insufficient number of participants. Not showing up repeatedly (without prior cancellation) can ultimately lead to an exclusion from future experiments.
